Xavier Subias, professional photographer from Barcelona
My beginnings were in the late 70s with an old Agfa family camera, photographing my surroundings and revealing my first shots in black and white. The first photographer job was in Tibidabo photographing the visitors who came to the park. In 1980 I won the youth prize of the photographic contest of the rtve program "Cosas". In 1981 I studied photography at the Institut d'Estudis Fotogràfics de Catalunya IEFC and started working as an assistant for advertising and fashion photographers. During that time I combined it with numerous graphic collaborations in newspapers and magazines such as Cruïlla / Illacrua y Entrejóvenes. In 1984 I started working at the AGE Fotostock Spain agency, where I was 25 years, first as head of the photographic laboratory and photographer and later I became a technician in digital photography.
Since 2009 I have been working as a freelance photographer for national and international agencies: Agencia Catalana de Noticies-ACN, AGE Fotostock Spain, Transterra Media (Beirut), Getty Images, Istockphoto, Agencia Gtr3s, Agency OTN (Italia), Cooper Photographers and Fotodeporte.
I also carry out work for institutions and entities: Generalitat de Catalunya , Servei Català de Trànsit, Enciclòpedia Catalana, National Geographic, Diomira, Taula de Comunicació, Revista Capçalera and Col·legi de Periodistes de Catalunya. Since March 2015 I have been an accredited photographer for the Diputació de Barcelona to take out photographic reports of protocol and institutional acts, presentations, receptions, events and days.

I have taught courses and workshops in photography and Photoshop for different entities of free time in the city of Barcelona.

Since its founding on March 14, 1994, I have been a member of the Union of the Imatge-UPIFC and currently serve on the Board of Directors as secretary of finance.
